It appears that the Oilers are beginning to intensify their scouting of the Chicago Blackhawks as this will be the third consecutive game they have been spotted in the rafters. For several days, the rumours continue to state that the Oilers are trying to pry away Blackhawks forward and star Patrick Kane from their lineup.

Another player the Oilers are interested in is Sam Lafferty, who is a 6 foot one 195 pounds centre. The 27-year-old has played fifty games, has scored ten goals with 11 assists for 21 points and holds 28 penalty minutes. Chicago has asked for a second-round draft choice for Lafferty, which Holland has turned down.

Lafferty would certainly give the Oilers some depth down the middle on their bottom six which they sorely lack. He was drafted in 2014 in the fourth round, 113th choice overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The story around Patrick Kane continues to develop as Kane has stated that he's willing to waive his no-trade clause for a single team. the New York Rangers were the expected team to trade for Kane, however, they went a different route and chose Tarasenko from the St Louis Blues. The Rangers have stated they would be willing to try to add Kane as well.

My personal feelings or that the Oilers should focus on their defence and their bottom 6 forwards to improve their chances for a long playoff story. I feel the Oilers have plenty of scoring up front.
