Mattias Ekholm Returns But Isn't Ready to Start The Regular Season
In a positive development for the Edmonton Oilers, defenseman Mattias Ekholm made a welcomed return to the ice during today's practice session.
As reported by Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton, while Ekholm won't be ready to start the regular season due to a hip flexor injury, his presence on the practice rink is a promising sign of progress.
Welcome back, Mattias! The Oilers' defenseman is back on the ice with the team for the first time this camp.
Despite his earlier expectations for a quicker recovery, Ekholm's return to the practice drills is undoubtedly a positive step forward. However, he will not be in action against the Seattle Kraken in the final preseason game.
During the 2022-2023 season, split between the Nashville Predators and the Edmonton Oilers, Ekholm showcased his abilities by netting nine goals and accumulating an impressive 32 points. Oilers fans can now look forward to his return to full strength in the near future.
