The Edmonton Oilers are in a tough spot right now. They are currently on the outside of the playoff picture looking in. However, they are still very much in the playoff race so the last thing this team needs is added distractions.
Unfortunately there has been one big distraction and that's the Oilers General Manager Ken Holland has yet to be able to trade former 4th overall pick Jesse Puljujärvi.
According to Edmonton Oilers Insider Jim Matheson,
The team may need to sweeten the pot just to get someone to bite on a deal.
The Oilers have been trying to deal Puljujarvi since last season when GM Ken Holland admitted he needed to figure out what to do with the young Finnish forward, who once had so much potential to be an NHL game breaker, but he essentially disappears at times when the games mattered most.
Puljujärvi has already went back to Finland instead of developing in the American Hockey League, and has been given numerous opportunities to be a top line guy including playing with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
Puljujarvi is still only 24 and is a pending restricted free agent who makes $3 million against the cap, if f Holland wants to get rid up Puljujärvi he's going to have to give a willing team draft picks and or prospects to take him off their hands.
