The arbitration date has been set for August 4th. McLeod filed for arbitration earlier in July, hoping to receive a higher salary than last season when he went unsigned for a while and eventually signed a one-year team-friendly deal for $798K.
This year, McLeod showed improvement, scoring 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 57 games, playing an average of 14 minutes per night, and appearing in 12 postseason games.
However, the Oilers have limited cap space and will need to sign multiple RFA's after McLeod. If he is awarded the $2 million AAV he is seeking, it could put the team in a difficult position.
Despite this, Holland will have to find a way to sign Evan Bouchard, whose contract may be upwards of $4 million.
Holland should be able to make it work before the season to keep the team competitive.
