Mattias Ekholm, the longstanding Nashville Predators defenseman has found his groove with his new team the Edmonton Oilers. Ekholm has been having a strong night tonight against the San Jose Sharks as he has found his scoring touch.

With eight minutes and 12 seconds left in the second period, back home scored the tying goal with a nifty backhand.

Ekholm who has played ten games with the Oilers so far has scored three goals and 6 assists for nine points. He currently holds the plus 13.

His second goal of the night was breaking in on the left side of the San Jose zone where he took a nice slapper and put it top right-hand corner over the San Jose goaltender.

The 32-year-old defenseman has become the third different oiler defenseman to score two goals in a game this season. The last time this happened was in 2005 and 2006 whenever Chris Pronger, Boris Mironov and Marc Andre Bergeron were all there.
