Recently, the Edmonton Oilers' needs have been discussed extensively regarding trades and improvements. There are dozens of players linked to the team, many of whom span all three zones of the group.

Jesse Puljijarvi and Warren Foegele have been pointed to as the odd men out on this team and are likely to be traded before the March 3rd deadline. Jakub Chychrun, Joel Edmundson, and John Klingberg are names that continue circulating the rumor wires, which will be potential fits.

Many have felt the Oilers need a top-four defenseman, especially on the left side. Currently, the team only has Darnell nurse and Brett Kulak, with good NHL experience. Others feel that the Oilers should focus on the forward position, especially in the bottom 6. It will give the Oilers more two-way scoring and defensive depth while making a push for the playoffs.

Both schools of thought are necessary and correct for this team to succeed in the playoffs. With Kailer Yamamoto returning and Ken Holland expressing the need to make changes, there's hope that the Oilers will get what they need to make a final playoff push and a run to the Stanley Cup.

It's my opinion, and time will tell how the Oilers will handle this important day.
