Patrick Kane to Edmonton rumors are picking up steam
In an article about Patrick Kane's next destination, NHL Insider Arthur Staples casually mentioned the Edmonton Oilers.
In preparation for getting back on the ice, Kane has begun dryland training after his hip resurfacing surgery.
As a result of Staple's comments, NHL analysts began considering the odds that Kane might indeed end up in Alberta.
As Kane would like to play with a contender, any team that adds him would need to be flexible with the cap, and also need to be able to be flexible with their cap. Pat Brisson and the Oilers may engage in contract negotiations, which will provide them with enough time to make the money work, which would be a positive for the player and team.
With Staple's comments, there hasn't been any confirmation of interest from either party, but Kane does have a connection to the organization with Duncan Keith, and in the NHL, it's about who you know.
While it remains speculation, he would be a valuable addition to an Oilers team that is loaded with talent.
