As NHL trade rumors continue to heat the names keep rolling in. David Pagnotta of the fourth period reported that the Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets are linked to former Montreal Canadiens Max Domi.
The 27-year-old center is having a better season with the Chicago Blackhawks. He has played 48 games and has scored fourteen goals with 21 assists for 35 points.
He does however hold a - 11 in his plus-minus. Domi's career has not materialized as many would have hoped as he has traveled the league and has played for five NHL organizations.
I'm not sure if Max Domi would be the solution for the Oilers, he would rank in the bottom 6 and give them depth going into a playoff spot. However, with his defensive deficiencies, he could be a liability which is not what the Oilers need and not an improvement.
He will also be an unrestricted free agent next season and currently holds a $3 million cap hit. If the Oilers have any interest in him whatsoever they should be offering a low-end draft choice or a B prospect to acquire his services.
