The Oilers felt comfortable with two backup goaltenders including one that makes $5 million a year to help them make noise in their run.
It appears that newly minted general manager Danny Briere of the Philadelphia Flyers is beginning to take calls and is willing to listen for offers for Hart as the Flyers begin to move in their new direction under his leadership along with new president Keith Jones.
According to Anthony Di Marco, the only way a trade like this could happen is that the Flyers would be willing to take on Jack Campbell's salary as the Flyers are in a rebuilding phase and the Oilers are in a win-now mode.
I feel that Carter Hart would be the answer for the Oilers' goaltending and would certainly stabilize the back end so they could continue to bolster their defence core while having enough offence between Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent Hopkins.
I also think it would be a hard sell to make a deal unless a major piece comes back. I expect Hart's name to be highly mentioned in this summer's off-season as more teams will call Briere to find out his availability.
