It's been 35 years since the great one also known as Wayne Gretzky dawned the Edmonton Oilers jersey as an active player. The level of skill and talent he had was just mind-boggling to watch.

His Oilers tenure ended on August 9th, 1988, when the Oilers traded him to the Los Angeles Kings along with Marty McSorley and Mike Krushelnyski for Jimmy Carson, Martin Gelinas, $15 million in cash and three first-round draft picks in 1989, 91 and 93.

During the dawn of The Trade, the NHL was revolutionized, including a massive expansion in Southern California and the rest of the country.

Despite finishing his career as a New York Rangers player, Gretzky still has a love for the Edmonton Oilers. During an intermission during the TNT coverage of the NHL playoffs, Gretzky came to the defence of his former team as Paul Bissonnette was taking a run at the Oilers with their style of play during Game 1 of the Carolina Florida series.

Although it's a funny moment, it shows how much he still cares about the Oilers, since this is the team that gave him his start in the NHL and started his career.

Game 6 of the Western Conference final will be held tomorrow Monday, May 29th where the Dallas Stars will try to extend the series to a 7th game from the Vegas Golden Knights. Game time will be at 8:00 PM Eastern.
