Well-respected NHL insider Pierre Lebrun of The Athletic offered his view on a potentially dim and disturbing reality for the Edmonton Oilers on March 3rd.

LeBrun feels that general manager Ken Holland has been one of the most active GMs in the NHL trying to bolster his lineup. However, with his cap flexibility not available and players such as Jesse Pujujarvi hard to move, Holland could be in a bind when the clock strikes three on deadline day.

Pierre LeBrun saying «it's not out of the picture he does next to nothing» regarding Holland and the trade deadline. That would be nothing short of embarrassing. Absolutely pathetic that we are in year 8 of McDavid and we are already getting briefs and PR that he may do nothing.

As a result, some fans have expressed their ire at how the Oilers' management has handled this situation.

I do believe Holland will make the moves that are needed, whether they are blockbuster trades or smaller moves. Until trade Deadline Day arrives, this will certainly keep the Oilers Nation on their toes.

With 65 points, the Oilers occupy the first wildcard spot in the Western Conference. The division lead is held by the Vegas Golden Knights, who are three points ahead of them.
