With the Edmonton Oilers General Manager Ken Holland believed to be on a search for a puck moving defenceman, it has some hockey fans wondering what ever happened to defenceman Oskar Klefbom?
Holland provided an update on the status of Oscar Klefbom earlier this month in an interview with Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic, shedding some light on where Klefbom went since being out of action during the Covid pandemic.
Holland revealed since Klefbom's shoulder surgery back in 2020 playoffs:
"Trying to push it a little harder in December and early January and had some setbacks.» He further elaborated by saying that Oscar was «feeling better in terms of everyday life" but that "it's much more pessimistic when it comes to if he's going to play again.»
Unfortunately for Klefbom, no matter how hard he's tried his career is over in the NHL. Which is unfortunate because Klefbom was a fan favourite and man what a shot did he have from the blue-line. The Oilers would be a much better team if they had the former 19th overall pick from the 2011 draft.
It's too bad to see another player forced to give up his career before his time, but we here at Oilers Daily just wanted to show the former Oilers defenceman some love.
