We're literally days away from the NHL's trade deadline day and the Edmonton Oilers General Manager Ken Holland hasn't done a single move.

To be fair the Oilers have no cap space, but so have a lot of the teams around the league, but they've adapted to make it happen. However, it seems like Holland might be thinking outside the box trying to make a deal with the Nashville Predators for defenceman Mattias Ekholm

This was revealed Oilers Insider Jim Matheson on Twitter:

People are right when they say Mattias Ekholm at 32 has lot of miles on his body with hard style he plays. But Duncan Keith had played 1400 NHL games and logged huge mins before Oilers got him at 38. He was better than fine as left D. Make money work cap-wise for Ekholm in trade.

Ekholm is a perfect fit for Edmonton with term. Can't ask for a better trade imo.

If Nashville wants Yamamoto you make it happen. Would have to think it's Yamamoto, Puljujarvi & Bouchard + for Ekholm.

The popular website Oilers nation would give their opinions on a Ekholm trade Ekholm:

"You need to move out Foegele and Puljujarvi or.." #Oilers

What needs to happen for Ekholm to happen?!

Ekholm would be a nice addition to the Oilers but the question remains can Holland pull it off?
