As the NHL seeks ways to enhance the fan experience and expand the league's presence in multiple cities and around the world, it has introduced several new games, including the Heritage Classic.

This classic event debuted on November 22, 2003, and was hosted by the Edmonton Oilers. It was an outdoor game held at Commonwealth Stadium, pitting the Oilers against the Montreal Canadiens.

NHL fans were eager for a change and desired to experience an outdoor game in a university or CFL facility. The game drew a crowd of 57,167 fans, setting a new attendance record.

Since then, the game has continued to grow in popularity, with more people embracing the opportunity to watch their favourite sport in the same style they enjoyed as children.

Fast forward to 2023, marking the 20th year of the classic, with the Oilers once again hosting, this time against the Calgary Flames. Today, they unveiled the jerseys that both teams will be wearing, and I must say, they look quite sharp.

You can check out the jerseys and logo:

The Oilers will be wearing jerseys featuring the Edmonton Mercurys as the main logo. This team was prominent during the 1940s and 1950s at the intermediate-level senior level.

The game is scheduled for Sunday, October 29th, and will be exclusively televised on TVA Sports and Sportsnet. Tickets are currently on sale.
