The Oilers do a classy move for an aging defenceman
The career of Jason Demers has been a windy one at best. He began his career with the San Jose Sharks in 2009 -2010 and preceded to play for five organizations so far.
For many of you who don't know him the 34-year-old defenseman had averaged between 25 and 35 points per season for much of his playing career.
Now entering the twilight of his career, Demers numbers have declined rapidly and hasn't cracked the lineup too often in the past few seasons. Tonight he crossed the threshold that many players would love to.
The Oilers recognized that this player has had a long career with the NHL and deserved to play his 700th game. Even if it's just for one game to give him that recognition is the right move to do and the player will remember that for the rest of his playing career.
The Oilers have two games remaining this season and will play on the road against the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday, April 11th. Game time will be 9:30 PM Eastern.
