The city of Edmonton and the Oilers were disrespected in a report
The Edmonton Oilers have a rich history as a legendary franchise, starting from their humble beginnings in the renegade WHA. With the arrival of Wayne Gretzky, a merger, and 5 Stanley Cups, the team has earned a special place in the hearts of many in Alberta.
Interestingly, without even considering the team's history or the intense Battle of Alberta rivalry, BCW Global, a multinational communications agency, has designated Edmonton as the 38th-best sports city in the world, second only to Toronto.
Although hockey has been the city's main sport for a long time, Edmonton has recently been trying to diversify its sports offerings. In 2015, the city hosted the FIFA Women's World Cup and made an unsuccessful attempt to secure the Men's in 2026.
In addition to the Oilers, Commonwealth Stadium has been used for snowboarding and beach pro volleyball events. However, there is hardly any mention of the passionate Oilers fans who make the city come alive.
