It's a very special night in Leafs Nation as they pay tribute to their Captain, Toronto Maple Leafs forward John Tavares.
Tavares had the eye of the hockey world on him since being just 16 years old, they knew he was destined for greatness. Tavares would go on to break Wayne Gretzky's record as a member of the London Knights for most points all-time in the Ontario Hockey League.
Tavares would go on to be selected 1st overall by the New York Islanders, where he became one of the all-time favorites amongst Islanders fans, playing 9 season's there until he decided to join his childhood favorite team the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he signed in 2018 as a free agent.
Now in his fifth season in Toronto he's the Captain and the leader of this great franchise as he hopes to lead the Leafs to a Stanley Cup. Something they haven't been able to overcome since 1967. Tavares also has his eye on joining the 1,000 point club in the NHL. The 32 year-old has 412 goals, and 532 assists, for a total of 944 points.
