These camps help players maintain their physical conditioning, timing, and mental state as the NHL season approaches, and training camp begins in two weeks.
This week, the well-known energy drink company BioSteel hosted a camp in Nova Scotia. Prominent NHL players from various teams gathered to scrimmage and promote the event. The attendees included several superstars such as Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, John Tavares, and the newly drafted Blackhawk, Connor Bedard.
However, there was one unexpected attendee from the Oilers: defenseman Philip Broberg.
Broberg has been touted as a potential key component for the Oilers shortly. He was drafted in the first round, 8th overall, in 2019, and the Oilers had high hopes for his development. Unfortunately, he has not progressed as expected, and the team has been hesitant to include him in the lineup.
It appears that Broberg has different plans for this year as he aims to establish himself as a regular on the team and take his career to the next level. His offensive statistics were not impressive last season, as he played 46 games, scoring just one goal with seven assists, totalling eight points and a +6 rating.
