Veteran Players NHL Career is Over After Battling Concussion Issues
Many athletes' careers are impacted by injuries to the point that retirement is considered. Sadly, the most recent instance of this involves Carolina Hurricanes winger Ondrej Kase. Despite six seasons of NHL playingwith several teams, injuries have limited him to only one game this year for the Hurricanes.
Kase has been in the concussion protocol ever since he participated in his first game of the year on October 13. Thankfully, he has been participating in team practices since December 16 while wearing a no-contact jersey due to ongoing concussion symptoms.
Kase, a free agent who this summer signed a one-year deal with the Carolina Hurricanes, is apparently not going to participate in another NHL game and is instead preparing to travel back to his home Czech Republic to play hockey and sign a contract with HC Verva of the Czech league.
Kase was about to begin his seventh NHL season, as was already said, so it is quite upsetting to learn that he has had concussion-related issues that will force him to retire from the league. If he does have any plans to return home, he will likely take use of this off-season to rest up and ensure that his symptoms have disappeared before joining HC Verva of the Czech league.
