Klim Kostin's only played 142 games in the NHL since being drafted in the first round of 2017, but he's had plenty of memorable moments in his career, including a great 2022-23 season in Edmonton. Last night he had another memorable game now with the San Jose Sharks, but it won't be a fond one. In a freak accident, Kostin took a skate to the groin area.

Kostin reacted just like any man would, immediately covering his mid section and bending over in pain and shock. He collapsed down to his knees, and struggled to make his way off the ice. Thankfully, Kostin just needed some time on the bench, and returned to the game to take a couple shifts in the third period. To make matters worse, the Sharks lost the game to the Predators by a score of 8-2.

The 24 year old winger played just one season with the Edmonton Oilers, but was remembered fondly for his physical play, secondary scoring, and elevating his game in the playoffs. He scored a career high 11 goals and 21 points in 57 games with the Oilers, and added 5 points in 12 playoff games to boot.

In the offseason, Kostin signed with Detroit for two years at $2M per year, and never quite fit in with the team. He only played 33 games and recorded 4 points before being traded to the San Jose Sharks at this year's trade deadline for a seventh round pick - and now he's seems to have found his game again. Wherever Kostin is, Oilers fans will still be cheering him on for the on - and hoping he doesn't take any more skates to the jewels.
