Ryan Whitney is certainly no stranger to being on the fringe of the politically correct. His podcast Spittin' Chiclets leans into the more vulgar side of hockey culture, and a few days ago, Whitney may have taken it too far.

After watching the Bruins take down the Leafs in game 4 to take a commanding series lead, Whitney shared the following crude image which needs no description.

The AI-generated image is obviously supposed to be a crude joke by Whitney, but it does cross the line for many fans online. Many fans responded in total disgust for joking about consent and s***al assault.

Whitney has not issued any apology or statement at all about the post and the backlash, and it's not likely he will at all. Barstool Sports, the company that hosts the Spittin' Chickets podcast, is no stranger to this type of controversy.

Whitney was drafted 5th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2005, but only went on to play 481 career NHL games, including 4 seasons with the Edmonton Oilers. Since his NHL career, Whitney has become one of the most popular and influential figures in hockey from his podcast, and still reps the Edmonton Oilers hard as a fan.
