Moments ago, the Columbus Blue Jackets confirmed that Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew have passed away.
Today, the Gaudreau's sister was supposed to be getting married, and the family was gathered for the event. It's an awful tragedy.
Official reports now reveal that it wasn't an accident. A drunk driver has been arrested for striking the Gaudreau Brothers while they were biking along the side of the road. The driver is now in police custody.
Two bicyclists were struck and killed by a driver on Thursday night in Salem County, New Jersey.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. on Pennsville Auburn Road near Stumpy Lane in Oldmans Township.
The 31 year old Gaudreau played the last two seasons on the Columbus Blue Jackets after beginning his career with 9 seasons on the Calgary Flames. The smaller US-born forward made so many fans with his speed, skill, and love for the game - earning the nickname Johnny Hockey'.
Hockey fans are incredibly shaken up by this horrific tragedy. Our thoughts are with Gaudreau's family at this time.
