According to Michael DeRosa of The Hockey News, three NHL stars maybe on the move as they are likely to be traded prior to the 2024-2025 season.

NHL teams are close to solidifying their budgets and their rosters as many teams have dipped into the free agent market and have locked up the bulk of their money. Other teams have saved some of their cap space for some bargains who may be available which include three of these NHL stars.

It seems that it's a foregone conclusion that Patrik Laine a of the Columbus Blue Jackets will be in a new home prior to the beginning of the season. According to NHL insider Pierre LeBrun both parties have decided to part ways and with Laine cleared to play hockey again after spending some time with the NHLPA player assistance program several teams are likely calling general manager Don Waddell to see what it would take to pry him from the roster.

The Winnipeg Jets appear to be prepared to move on from left winger Nikolaj Ehlers as he is entering the final year of his deal and could potentially be lost to free agency. The Jets have not given any indications that they're willing to extend him and likely will move on which means he may be traded sooner rather than later.

Ehlers would help a team with their offence and speed. During last year's season, he had solid numbers including 25 goals with 61 points and was a + 27.

Lastly, general manager Pat Verbeek has expressed that the Anaheim Ducks are looking for more veteran help to their young roster, and it appears that he is prepared to move off one of his best young players in Trevor Zegras. He holds a cap hit of $5.7 million and would likely be a commodity that many teams would covet.

At 23 years old Anne with his skill set a team could build around him and he would be on their top six. Anaheim is content with their rebuilding phase and adding veteran help would help accelerate matters.

With the salary cap structured the way it is, trades are difficult to do at times, but it appears as other general managers have shown including Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin, sometimes a deal can come together rather quick and could change the dynamic of your team.
