Michael Bunting has been on an incredible run since being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins, but things got messy during Saturday's night game when he had to leave a game for diarrhea.

Bunting played only 9 minutes before being forced from the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was clearly the victim of the flu bug which has seemingly been travelling around the NHL, and Bunting just happened to share maybe a bit too much detail.

While speaking to Penguins reporter Michelle Crechiolo, Bunting recalled the fact that the media may have found out a bit too much about his absence, but is ready to get back into the lineup tonight.

When the flu bug travels around the NHL, it seriously gets going. It seems that almost every team, every year has to deal with a mid season outbreak of illness. Most recently for the Oilers, Cody Ceci was held out just one game due to illness.

At the end of the day, it's really just absolutely hilarious that the confirmed reports are out there that Bunting was fighting through it on the bench during the last game. In 12 games with the Penguins so far this season, Bunting's fit in fantastically with 3 goals and 7 points in 12 games. Him and his teammates will have to laugh about this incident, as he'll be sticking around with the team for at least the next two full seasons, signed to a contract that pays him $4.5M annually. It's been a great start with Pittsburgh for Bunting!
