Stanley Cup Odds released and Canadian team most likely to win
At the trade deadline, more than a few contenders made serious moves to beef up their roster to help their chances in the upcoming tough playoff battles. Now considering all the trade deadline moves, Bet365 has released the new Stanley Cup odds, and the Edmonton Oilers are the team favoured to win it all.
The Florida Panthers are second place, followed by the Vancouver Canucks, Colorado Avalanche, and the Winnipeg Jets to round out the top 5. With three teams in the top 5, there's a good chance that the Stanley Cup could be won by a Canadian team for the first time since the 1993 Montreal Canadiens. Hilariously, the Maple Leafs aren't even on the radar for the Cup this year.
The biggest perceived threat to the Oilers this year has to be the Vegas Golden Knights, the team that eliminated them last year and that has made incredible trade deadline acquisitions with Anthony Mantha, Noah Hanifin, and Tomas Hertl. Surprisingly, the Knights are the tenth most likely team, but they saw a big jump in their chances after the trade deadline.
Despite the heated rivalries between teams, a lot of Canadian hockey fans would be more than okay with any team north of the border finally winning the cup for the first time in over 30 years. It's long overdue, and it looks like this year could be the year.
