More than a few fans have shared their difficulty with getting tickets at these exorbitant prices. Well over $1000 a ticket is simply ridiculous for a Coyotes game, but being the last game in franchise history, clearly people are looking to cash in.
For any fans of the Coyotes through their tenure in Arizona, it's their last chance to come out and support the team before they're gone - an awful feeling for any sports fan. Inside the building, fans are organizing sections of fans wearing all white, and outside the building fans are organizing a watch party.
It's incredible how quickly the relocation deal came together after only whispers and rumours of its possibility through this season. Now, the NHL is expected to make its official announcement of relocation to Salt Lake City on April 18th, and the Coyotes players and staff will travel there shortly after to visit the new facilities. One odd and discouraging element of the relocation is that Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo will retain the rights to the franchise, and will be allowed back in the NHL as an expansion team within five years.
It's incredibly surprising to see the NHL finally act on the clear problem of the Coyotes, and exciting for fans to get a new team in Utah - and a fresh start for the players bogged down in Arizona. In the coming weeks, more details about the team name, colours, and jerseys will emerge - Utah's got a lot of work to do to be ready for this upcoming season!
