The two sides had been reportedly far apart in salary during negotiations, but it was clear that Max Domi wanted to return to his hometown team, and the Leafs wanted to make it work as well. Initial reports suggested the 29 year old UFA was seeking upwards of 5 years and $5M, but Friedman is reporting the Leafs got Domi's salary under $4M.
Last season Domi struggled in the early half of the season, and really found his game in the latter half and during the playoffs. He has undeniable offensive talent that has been inconsistent through his career, scoring up to 28 goals and 72 points one year, then only 44 points the next. Last season, Domi scored 9 goals and 47 points.
