According to insiders, Warren Foegele is signing with the Kings, and Adam Henrique will be going to the Jets.
The Oilers may have liked to retain their trade deadline acquisition in Adam Henrique, who served as a fantastic and versatile player in their run to the Stanley Cup Final. However, it's expected that Henrique will be able to command more on the open market, and especially Winnipeg may have to significantly outbid the Oilers for his services.
On the others hand, the Edmonton Oilers didn't seem to have any interest in retaining Warren Foegele. Foegele's signing of $3M is too much salary for the Oilers to accommodate, and in his exit interviews, Foegele nearly hinted that the team wasn't interested in retaining him. Over his three seasons with the Oilers, Foegele scored 45 goals and 95 points in 246 games. He had a career year last season scoring 20 goals, which likely increased his asking price significantly.
Despite losing out on both these free agents, the Oilers have already done well in retaining Connor Brown and signing Victor Arvidsson from the Los Angeles Kings. All eyes are on President Jeff Jackson to keep making moves to improve this team, and make another run to the Stanley Cup Final.
