Moments ago, the Edmonton Oilers announced the signing of 30 year old defenceman Josh Brown to a 3 year contract at $1M each season.

Brown was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the 6th round of the 2013 Draft, and has now played 290 games with the Panthers, Senators, Bruins, and most recently the Arizona Coyotes. Last season was a career best for him, scoring 3 goals and 10 points in 51 games, as well as owning a +2 rating on a leaky Coyotes team.

Edmonton Oilers sign right shot defenceman Josh Brown to three year contract

Oilers insider Bob Stauffer hinted towards this signing earlier today, and noted Brown's connection to Connor McDavid and Kris Knoblauch. Josh Brown was on the OHL championship winning Oshawa Generals, beating out McDavid and Knoblauch on the Eerie Otters. Stauffer says Brown could be a quality contributor on as a right shot defenceman on the third pair. If they could offload Cody Ceci, this would be a fine signing for the Oilers.

The Oilers have added Victor Arvidsson and Josh Brown, and aren't believed to be done yet today. Warren Foegele, Adam Henrique, and Vincent Desharnais are all one the way out, but so far Edmonton is looking to be making great moves to boost their roster. If they can keep improving their roster and make good moves at the trade deadline, the Oilers will hopefully be back in the Stanley Cup Final, and get a better result this time.
