TSN Reporter Darren Dutchyshen has passed away

Moments ago, news broke of the tragic passing of TSN Anchor Darren Dutchyshen.

The hockey world is in mourning for one of the most beloved sports personalities across Canada. Dutchyshen will be remembered as one of the most extroverted and enthusiastic TSN personalities, and has been a mainstay on the network since 1995. Known as Dutchy to his colleagues and viewers, he cultivated a great relationship with sports fans across Canada and the USA.

TSN has released a statement mourning the loss of Dutchyshen, and speaking on his legacy on SportsCenter.

»A larger-than-life personality, Darren's incredible sense of humour and magnetic energy made him a natural broadcaster who connected easily with viewers. His enthusiasm reminded us every day of why we love sports. Most significantly, Darren was a friend to all of us at TSN, and we will miss him dearly. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his loved ones.»

Dutchyshen's family also made a statement along with TSN, revealing that he passed peacefully while surrounding with family members, and still cracking jokes.

«He passed as he was surrounded by his closest loved ones,» the Dutchyshen family said. «His sharp wit remained until his final moments, classically delivering plenty of jokes � most of them pretty good and all of them inappropriate.»

Several of the most prominent figures in hockey have reached out to make statements in remembrance of Dutchyshen.

He was only 57 years old. Everyone here at OilerDaily joins the hockey world in mourning the loss of Darren Dutchyshen too soon.
