These will be temporary jerseys for Utah as they continue to settle on a name, branding, and their permanent jerseys which will be completed before their second season. For now, the will be officially named the Utah Hockey Club, or Utah HC.
Obviously it's a little disappointing to see they couldn't finalize a real permanent jersey, logo, or name before their first NHL season, but Utah has barely had time to prepare before the draft and free agency.
Official news of the Coyotes relocation came just at the end of the regular season, and it may have been unrealistic to expect Utah to create a full brand in that time frame.
The Utah team still hasn't fully developed a team name yet either, but the two leading candidates are the Utah Mammoth and Utah Yeti. Judging by the light blue and black colours, a Yeti logo and branding may fight exceptionally well - while a brown Mammoth may not. While still not official, the jerseys lend themselves far more to the name of Utah Yeti.
Under new ownership, the former Arizona Coyotes could become a solid team very quickly. Utah is stacked with elite young talent and draft capital, and now will be willing to spend to the salary cap each season unlike Arizona. It's rumoured that Utah would like to make a big splash in free agency this year, and they'll have plenty of candidates to sign. With much better leadership, it's not out of the picture that Utah could make the playoffs in their first NHL season.
