The Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings certainly have brought this rivalry to light after they met each other in last year's playoffs in which the Oilers dispensed the Kings in seven games.
As the Oilers continue their western road swing, they played their first rematch against the Kings last night and won 3-2 in a shootout. After the game, Connor McDavid was asked on his thoughts of the game and the rivalry that is building between the Kings and the Oilers.
As the Kings are one of the better teams the earliest will be facing over the next month, these winds are vital to help the Oilers regain their confidence and continue to roll through January collecting points and getting themselves back into playoff contention.
The Oilers find themselves five points behind the second wild card spot Arizona Coyotes. With the bulk of the teams, they are facing are well below 15th overall the league this is an excellent opportunity on to gain ground as they are currently winners of their last four games in a row.
The Oilers will face off against the Anaheim Ducks for a New Year's Eve game. Game time will be 10:00pm eastern.
