Today, the Edmonton Oilers won their sixteenth straight game and are skyrocketing up the standings after a horrid start to the year. When the Oilers started the year with a record of 2-9-1 and fired their coach, it looked like the team was completely hopeless in making a comeback. Now looking to set the record for longest team win streak, Connor McDavid had a message for the doubters at the beginning of this season.

What we kinda went through early in the season, everyone saying mean things, writing us off, but we stick together in there. It's a good group, we've been through that stuff before. It's probably what I'm most proud of, is just how we hang in there together.

It's an emphatic statement from the Oilers captain that this team is back with a vengeance after their poor star, but also that they always believed that had the talent on the team through the struggles.

In the recent stretch of wins, McDavid and Draisaitl have been fantastic, but the entire Oilers team has come together to be a part of the wins. Through the streak, the Oilers bottom six has been a key part of scoring, the penalty kill has been unbelievable, the goaltending has been impeccable, and McDavid and Draisaitl are still dominating games.

With this kind of leadership from McDavid and the kind of game the team has been playing in recent weeks, now also adding Corey Perry and more players at the trade deadline, the Oilers are looking primed for a real run the Stanley Cup this year.
