Connor McDavid reveals his message to Oilers GM Ken Holland about trade deadline

After the Oilers cratered to a horrible 2-9-1 start to this season, they've soared back into cup contender status and are now one win away from tying a team's consecutive win streak. With the Oilers success being one of the NHL's biggest stories heading into the trade deadline, all eyes are on the Oilers to see what moves they'll make to compliment a group that's looking to make a deep playoff run.

In a recent interview with Elliotte Friedman on the 32 thoughts podcast, Connor McDavid opened up about his relationship with Ken Holland, and if he has any personal input into roster moves or potential trades at the deadline.

»Of course we're always talking to Kenny. He's great that way, always including us, including other guys. We appreciate that and give our input where we see fit.»

McDavid clearly admits to having some influence over some roster additions, but also opens up to say that it's a collaborative effort including Holland and the team, but probably mostly Connor and Leon. With Jeff Jackson being hired as President and Connor Brown signing in the offseason, it seems like McDavid's friends are coming from all over to join the Oilers. However near the end of the quote, he downplays the influence he actually has over things like the trade deadline.

»If there's one thing I could add, I don't know. I'm thankful that I don't have to make that decision. That's why they pay Kenny the big bucks.»

Heading into the trade deadline, the Oilers have more than a few options to add to the team to make them a true favourite to win the Stanley Cup. With the right moves, this team could be unstoppable - and it seems McDavid knows it.
