Coming off what feels like a long layoff since the last Oilers game, the team tonight has the opportunity to make history and tie the all-time win streak record of 17 against the Vegas Golden Knights tonight. After the all star break, teams should be a little healthier - but the Golden Knights will be running out a depleted lineup tonight.

The Knights have struggled with injury through most of this year so far, and tonight will pose a significant challenge for them against the Oilers. Tonight on home ice, the Knights will be missing Jack Eichel, Shea Theodore, and William Carrier tonight. William Karlsson will make his return to the lineup after being out for more than a month.

As laid out by Jason Gregor on OilersNation today, the Oilers will have the opportunity to make history tonight and have a clear advantage over the Knights with their centre depth, and they're also missing a top pair defenceman in Theodore.

No game is easily won in the NHL, and definitely not against the reigning Cup Champions on home ice, but with these injuries the Oilers certainly look poised to be able to pull off a road win tonight, and extend their win streak to a historic 17 games. If they win again tonight, they'll have the opportunity to take sole possession of the win streak record tomorrow against the Anaheim Ducks.
