The situation continues to worsen for the Edmonton Oilers as their dreadful start to the season paralyzes the team. Regardless of the coaching staff's efforts and the players' actions, it seems the team cannot get its ducks in a row to consistently win hockey games.

This team was expected to be a contender right out of the gate after a strong finish to the previous season and postseason. Despite losing in the second round, they had high hopes for a better start this year.

In his segment on Saturday night, 32 Thoughts podcaster and NHL insider Elliot Friedman revealed that the Edmonton Oilers were exploring trade options to address their beleaguered goaltending situation.

Teams, however, appear reluctant to make a deal this early in the season, with many opting to wait longer before engaging in major trades. It's also worth noting that the Oilers are unwilling to make a deal from a position of weakness.

"Edmonton this week, I think they're in shock," said Friedman of the Oilers. They did what all of you would expect: they spent a lot of this week calling around the league, trying to see what was available out there. But the one thing they made very clear is that they weren't going to make a desperate, dumb deal."

"The problem with that is that other teams say, 'Look, we're happy to just wait things out right now,' so Edmonton didn't find a trade partner for anything that could be reasonable," said Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada. "So they have to figure it out themselves."

The Oilers will need to dig deep and try to figure out how to get out of this jam. With no help coming from trades with other teams, it will be on them to correct their problems.
