Over the past couple of days, the news has become frantic on which team will be the one who will land Corey Perry services. The 38-year-old winger who disgraced himself towards the Chicago Blackhawks and their fan base decided to part ways with the team after an investigation discovered he conducted himself poorly at a company function two months ago.

Perry took some time away from the game as he seeked help and tried to redeem himself. On Wednesday, he was cleared by Gary Bettman and the NHL to sign with any team he liked.

During the Jeff Marek show, his fellow colleague of the 32 Thoughts Podcast Elliotte Friedman named the Oilers as a potential frontrunner.

Even prior to his signing in Chicago, the oilers were linked to Perry in terms of what he brings to the game and what he could do for the Oilers as they continue to build their success toward the Stanley Cup.

His willing to win, his feistiness along with his aggressive play would give the Oilers an edge that has been needed for some time on their bottom 6. Perry also possesses the ability to score goals as his goal scoring abilities have not diminished.

He would also bring leadership an experience which would help round out the dressing room and give the leadership Group a boost which he showed on full display when he played for the Montreal Canadiens.

It seems clear that many pundits including Friedman feel the Oilers would be a contending team to land Perry. Only time will tell if general manager Ken Holland can work the phones and land a deal.
