Since the day he joined the team, the Edmonton Oilers and their fans were aware of the talent Evander Kane has, but also his rocky personal life. Earlier today, former NHLer Kyle Wellwood joined the Cam and Strick Podcast. He was a teammate of Kane's early in his career when he was with Winnipeg - and Wellwood didn't shy away from sharing his stories and opinion on the young Kane.

On the show, the hosts asked Wellwood about the infamous incident where Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien threw Kane's clothes and equipment in a shower. Wellwood confirmed the incident, and said that even as Kane's friend, he deserved the treatment he got in Winnipeg.

Wellwood went on to recant stories of the Jets teammates taunting and teasing Kane for other personality quirks, like wanting to eat alone at team dinners, and buying large quantities of designer clothes.

Clearly, controversy has still surrounded Kane through his career, namely with the Sharks terminating his contract due to false vaccination and his bankruptcy due to gambling debts.

However, since Kane has arrived in Edmonton, he's been nothing but a fantastic contributor on the ice, and a spark plug to the team emotionally. This season through 22 games, Kane's recorded 11 goals and 20 points. Hopefully future Oilers teammates can share these odd types of stories after he wins the Cup in Edmonton.
