After breaking into the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers, Ethan Bear went on to establish himself as a solid NHL defenceman. Now coming back from a significant shoulder surgery, Bear is looking for another NHL contract this season.

Still just 26 years old, Bear has played 251 games over his NHL career, recording only 63 points but earning a reputation as an analytical darling. According to Chris Johnston on tonight's edition of Insider Trading, the Canucks, Leafs, Devils, and Penguins are interested in signing him.

Originally drafted in the fifth round by the Oilers in 2015, Bear exceeded the expectations of his draft position and played three seasons with the Oilers before being dealt to the Carolina Hurricanes for Warren Foegele. Shortly after, Bear was traded again to the Canucks, where he played part of a season before suffering the significant injury.

Bear can adequately fill a top six defenceman role, and excels in moving the puck, but his lack of physical play hasn't translated well in his brief playoff experience. For now, we'll have to see what team gives Bear another shot to continue his NHL career.
