Since re-joining the Edmonton Oilers at training camp this season on a tryout contract, Sam Gagner has been an incredible depth piece for the team. Last night Gagner came through with the game winning goal on a bank-shot from behind the net, giving the Oilers their 13th consecutive win and earning Gagner a new nickname in the locker room.

After the game, Hyman recalled Gagner's game winner as something typical coming from Papa Clutch'.

It's a fitting nickname for the 34 year old veteran, who's been both a leader in the locker room and a valuable contributor on the ice in limited opportunities. In 20 games this season, Gagner has 5 goals and 5 points. To put that into perspective, he's on pace for a 40 point season with ice time only on the fourth line.

It may have been a lucky goal from Gagner, or perhaps he really was trying to bank it off Vladar in the Flames net, but either way it stood as the game-winner, and gave Gagner and the Oilers a fantastic moment.

After the game, Gagner was also honoured by the team with the offensive player of the game award, the brush and beret for the team photo. Zach Hyman was selected for best defensive player. With their 13th straight win, the entire Oilers franchise is riding high with no end in sight right now.
