The Oilers had a highly publicized slow start to the season, and after hitting rock bottom with a 3-9-2 record, the team fired head coach Jay Woodcroft. However, most fans knew the team's struggles weren't at the fault of the coach. The true issues at the beginning of this year were Campbell's goaltending, and unprecedented slumps from McDavid and Draisaitl.

It's no secret that the Oilers are carried significantly by their two superstars, and that when both of them are in sync, they can beat most teams at will. While clearly in the dumps after firing Woodcroft, a camera caught an interesting interaction between McDavid and Draisaitl - and the Oilers have been undefeated since.

In the clip, the Oilers were losing 5-1 to the Carolina Hurricanes at home on November 22nd, when McDavid and Draisaitl give each other a tap. The interaction seemed to almost be a sign of solidarity in the struggles, but also faith in each other to turn it around. While the Oilers went on to lose that game 6-3, they've been undefeated since, winning seven straight games.

In that time, McDavid and Draisaitl have returned to their dominant form, and Stuart Skinner has provided reliable enough goaltending to close out the wins. As long as these two are firing on all cylinders, the Oilers are a deadly team, and clear cup contenders.
