Head coach Jay Woodcroft is trying to remain optimistic despite the Edmonton Oilers' terrible start.

But is it justified? It appeared that the coach would be on thin ice after the team's 3-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks. It is likely, however, that he will remain behind the bench when it comes to the Seattle Kraken.

In spite of the 2-9-1 start to the season, Woodcroft remains optimistic that the team can turn things around soon.

What is Woodcroft's relationship with reality? There is a problem with the entire structure of the team, from defense to goaltending to offense.

Two of your superstars are struggling to generate offense, and your "top" goalie has been sent down.

«I'm excited about our opportunity today,» Woodcroft said. «I think we had a good practice yesterday and have an opportunity to play a divisional opponent. We talked about it yesterday; we're seven points out of a playoff position. It's weird to talk about that in November, but it's not a position we haven't been in before. When Dave [Manson] and I first came up, [we were] seven points out. We have experience of clawing our way back, but it starts with one game, and that's tonight.»

Even though there are 70 games left, Woodcroft and his team need to find their A game quickly.
