More or less, the Edmonton Oilers' organization motto is "Cup Or Bust." Ken Holland didn't go to great lengths to find the best talent, but he did include players he hoped would be viable alternatives on the roster.

Connor Brown, a former Eerie Otter teammate of Connor McDavid, was one of them.

The team currently has Brown on a "bargain bin" deal, but it isn't mentioned that the deal is loaded with bonuses.

Upon reaching ten games played with the Oilers, he received a bonus of $3.25
million.

#NHL bonuses payable on the horizon:

#NYR Blake Wheeler: $100,000 for 10 GP (Thurs vs. CAR)
#Oilers Connor Brown: $3,225,000 for 10 GP (Sat vs. NSH)
#TexasHockey Joe Pavelski: $1,000,000 for 10 GP (Sat @ VAN)
#LAKings Cam Talbot: $1,000,000 for 10 GP (projected Nov. 11 vs. PHI)

Long-term, however, Brown hasn't performed as the team expected when they signed him.

All nine games this season, Brown has made bagels, as he has been scoreless.

It would be easier to swallow if he were the true Swiss knife forward the team signed. In this story, there are also other details missing: he's injured.

The Edmonton Oilers lost Connor Brown to a lower-body injury, categorized as muscular, in their 4-3 loss to the Dallas Stars on Friday night.

connor brown is hurt after what looked like routine cross over steps in front of the oilers net.

This is the latest setback for the team, which has had all-around bad luck recently. Even though LTIR is an option if he's out long-term, the sting of the situation so far still lingers.

In order to contend again, the Oilers need Connor Brown to be healthy and firing on all cylinders.
