With 10 games in the books, it's been a surprising start for the Montreal Canadiens. The team, originally pegged to be a rebuilding franchise, seems to be enjoying some early-season success.

Like many young teams, with the absence of immediate pressure to win, there is a sense that the team has some runway to explore different ideas and strategies to build the franchise's core.

Recent rumours suggest that the Canadiens are considering signing former first-round draft pick Jesse Puljujarvi, who was previously with the Oilers. This player has struggled to find his footing and establish his game in the NHL since being drafted in 2016.

After finishing his season with the Carolina Hurricanes, he underwent double hip surgery and is currently rehabbing back home in Finland. It has been suggested that he will become available to return to the NHL near the end of December.

This raises the question: Should the Canadiens attempt to sign him to a one-year, prorated deal to see if they can revitalize his career?

As a rebuilding team, there is virtually no risk in making this move. The 25-year-old player stands at an impressive 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 200 pounds. With some minor cap adjustments, they could easily accommodate him in their roster.

As a low-cost, low-risk player, he would have the opportunity to fill the gap left by Kirby Dach, who is out with knee surgery until next season.

Would you sign Puljujarvi if you were the GM of the Canadiens?
