After requesting a trade earlier this season due to lack of playing time, Philip Broberg was sent to the AHL's Bakersfield Condors to get consistent ice time. In just a few games with the Condors, Broberg has impressed with the quality of his play. Last night, he made an incredible effort that at arguably saved the game.

With the Condors hemmed in their defensive zone chasing the puck and being heavily outshot, the team was trying to hold on to keep the game tied at 1-1. The opposing team found a clean seam pass that looked like a sure goal off a one-timer, but Broberg made an incredible block doing the splits to save the puck from entering the gaping net.

It was an incredible and gutsy play from the young defenceman, and also a display that despite being in the AHL, he's still giving it his complete effort every night.

The Condors went on to win the game by a score of 2-1 in overtime off a goal by Seth Griffith. Another player who clearly impressed was goaltender Olivier Rodrigue, who stopped 37 shots in the close win. Since Campbell has struggled mightily in his time in the AHL while Rodrigue has been succeeding, the team is preferring that Rodrigue gets more starts and is able to develop his game. Now, the Condors clearly have two players to watch in Broberg and Rodrigue.
