In the Condors' game last night, Broberg was highlighted for a specifically amazing play where he anticipated the puck clearing the zone and made a swift and skillful hold at the offensive zone blue line, then dished a clean seam pass that lead directly to a goal.
It's an incredible play, and is a clear example of a Broberg's play trending significantly upward. In 23 games now this season in the AHL playing top-line minutes, Broberg has put up 1 goal and 16 points, as well as playing well defensively.
Since the 2021-22 season, Broberg has bounced between the AHL and NHL and never was able to get this consistent run of playing time - an issue that has plagued many prospects drafted around the time of COVID. This frustration of lacking playing time led Broberg to request a trade, which has since been rescinded now that he's playing consistently. Not only that, but the Oilers front office is taking note of Broberg's development this year in the minors, and if the team decides to trade a defenceman like Brett Kulak to free up cap space, Broberg would now be the first call up to replace him.
