Tuesday night's game, where the Edmonton Oilers faced off against the Vegas Golden Knights, was the first time both teams met since the Golden Knights knocked out the Oilers in the second round of last year's playoffs.

It's expected that many players had this date circled on their calendars, as this rematch was anticipated.

As both fanbases expected healthy rosters for the rematch, the Oilers announced only 30 minutes before game time that Oilers forward Zach Hyman was a late scratch. This wasn't expected, and it was announced that he was facing an illness which kept him out of the lineup.

With Hyman out, this allowed head coach Kris Knoblauch to promote Mattias Janmark to the top line and allow Sam Gagner to return to the lineup after being a healthy scratch over the last four games.

Before the illness, Hyman had played 20 games, scored twelve goals with 10 assists for 22 points, and is a +1. He also has 16 penalty minutes and has been averaging 19 minutes and 34 seconds of ice time.

The Oilers beat the Golden Knights 5-4 in a shootout.
