General manager Ken Holland felt that a change was needed after watching his team unable to win any hockey games no matter how hard they tried.
After firing Jay Woodcroft and Dave Manson, Holland took a gamble and brought in rookie Head Coach Kris Knoblauch and Oilers legend Paul Coffey in hopes of lighting a fire under this team and getting them back on the right track.
It seems the message has worked as the numbers speak for themselves as Oilers voice Bob Stauffer tweeted.
Outside the coaching change, it seems that the leadership group for this team has also taken the responsibility and shown the fan base that they are what they were advertised as. Connor McDavid has had an incredible run as of late posting 23 points in the last nine games including six goals and 17 assists.
Evan Bouchard is now third overall in points as an offensive defenseman in the league with 28 points. Stuart Skinner has rose to the occasion and has given the goaltending the team needs and the team appears to be more defensively sound.
This is the kind of leadership that will take the Oilers to the playoffs in hopes for a long run. Quite the outstanding turnaround.
