While the Oilers had the puck in the offensive zone and were absolutely dummying the Sharks, the Sportsnet broadcast cut out entirely to show an advertisement for the lottery and a promo for an upcoming Leafs game. It's obviously a mistake, but it's completely enraging that fans had to miss out on some action to sit through entire ads - and they couldn't even correct it quickly. Plenty of fans caught the mistake, and were pretty ticked off.
That said, the Oilers got plenty of action through the rest of the game. I guess the Sharks should be given thanks for even coming out to this game, because it was never even close. McDavid started the scoring less than a minute in, and later notched his 100th assist on the 9-1 goal by Zach Hyman. Only three other players have reached 100 assists, and it's an extremely elite list: Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Bobby Orr.
Sportsnet better sharpen up their broadcast, because the Edmonton Oilers look primed for a very deep run in the playoffs. With every game and seeing their incremental improvements, it's beginning to look like this is the year McDavid gets his Stanley Cup.
