In tonight's game between the Penguins and Predators, NHL history was made when Jeremy Lauzon threw his 9th hit of the net, setting a new record for most in an NHL season.

With his third period hit against Rickard Rakell, Lauzon notched his 383rd hit of the season, surpassing the record previously set by Islanders veteran Matt Martin.

The 26 year old Quebecer defenceman has played 288 career NHL games since being drafted by the Boston Bruins in the second round of the 2015 Draft. Through his career, he's played with the Bruins, a one year stint with the Kraken, and now with the Predators for the last three seasons. Setting a record like this clearly fits in with Nashville's reputation as Smashville.'

While it was a positive night for Lauzon setting the new record, it was a tough loss for the Predators and a very meaningful win for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Crosby and the Pens needed to win out their remaining games and get some help from other teams in the race, and while they got the win tonight, they didn't get the help from the out of town scoreboard. The playoff race in the east is seriously coming down to the wire!
